MOUNT GAMBIER
October 16 Mr. Abraham Underwood, aged 85 years, died yesterday at his residence, Penola road. He was a very old colonist, having arrived at Port Adelaide in the ship Lysanda over 50 years ago. He was born in Northamptonshire, and was married in England in 1814. Two years later he sailed for Australia. After his arrival in Adelaide he spent a few years in the north, near the River Light, in farming pursuit, leaving the north he went to Mount Barker, but his stay there was only brief and they removed to Mount Gambier, and remained here up till his death. Mr. Underwood was an active member of the Mount Gambier Baptist Church, and occupied the position of deacon for over 25 years. He left two sons-Messrs,. J. 1. Underwood and D. Underwood - and one daughter (Mrs. Hiddlestone. Sydney). Mrs. Underwood predeceased her husband by about five months.

Mrs. Rosalie Urlwin, who died recently, was the wife of Mr. Arthur Urlwin, of Salisbury and a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Collins, old residents of Glenburn (now Delamere). Mrs. Urlwin was associated with St John's Church, Salisbury, of which her husband was a warden.

The news of the death in London of Mr. W. O. Ussher, of the Bank of Australasia, has been received with much regret. Mr.
Usher was born at Clare, South Australia, in 1862, and he was a son of the late Rev. P. R. C. Ussher. He entered the Melbourne office of the Bank of Australasia in 1882, and was appointed branch manager at Portland in 1891 at Ulverstone, Tasmania, in 1893, and at Townsville, Queensland in 1894. In 1898, on the opening of the Toowoomba branch, he was appointed
manager at that place. A few months later, after being for a short time on the New South Wales inspecting staff, he was
transferred to the London office, of which he was appointed secretary. This position he held for seven years. Recently
he was appointed sub-manager of the Melbourne office, and intended to leave London for Melbourne this month, but was attacked by pneumonia, to which he succumbed.
